BIANCORIGONI

Biancorigoni

White Wine IGT Veneto

Our classic white. First vintage 2013.

Sauvignon 100%, from the vineyards of Val Liona. Manual harvest in the second week of September. Direct pressing, vinification in steel, ageing in exhausted barrique.

We do not seek the varietal aromatics of Sauvignon. We seek minerality, structure, depth.

We seek a white that can age.

Wood here helps us to age small quantities of very concentrated wine, normally from the warmest areas of the vineyards. Exhausted barriques: the wood has already given, only the capacity to oxygenate slowly remains.

Dry white, straw yellow to golden colour. Strong structure, moderate acidity. Wine for prolonged ageing.

Biancorigoni 2019 Il Dimenticato

Descrizione

A special lot. 300 bottles of a vintage we left to age longer than usual in barrique. Bottled in spring 2024, after almost 4 years of ageing.

The name “Il Dimenticato” (The Forgotten) tells the story: a tank left to rest, “forgotten” in the winery, which gained particular complexity and depth.

Harvest:

Carried out by hand in the second week of September in plastic crates of approximately 15 kg.

Winemaking:

In steel tank after direct pressing. Followed by barrique beyond the third use until bottling in spring 2024.

Conservation: Wine for prolonged ageing

Characteristics:

Dry white wine, straw yellow in colour. Strong structure, moderate acidity and alcohol content. The maximum aromatic expression of the varietal is not sought, but rather minerality and wood ageing. Suited to aperitifs including with smoked or salted fish, white meats including roasted, aged cheeses.

Serving temperature: 6-10°C

BIANCORIGONI

Biancorigoni 2018 Organoleptic Characteristics

Appearance: Straw yellow for the 2018 vintage. Golden for “Il Dimenticato” 2019

Nose: Minerality, ripe fruit, honey notes, light spicing from the wood

Palate: Important structure, sapidity, persistence

A Sauvignon of depth, minerality and complexity.

The passage through exhausted barrique adds roundness without masking the fruit. The wood has already given much to other wines, here it participates in oxygenation without intruding.

Biancorigoni: the philosophy of the Ageing White

Most Italian whites are drunk young. We seek the opposite: a white that can age, that can evolve, that can speak of time.

Sauvignon on the calcareous-ferrous soils of the Colli Berici has this capacity. It loses its immediate aromatics, gains structure and sapidity.

Wood helps. Not to add flavour, but to allow a slow oxygenation that stabilises the wine and prepares it for ageing.
